The Guttmacher Institute's latest distillation of abortion statistics was pretty numbing, but boiled down, its report offered encouraging news to Americans who value life and a darkly predictable conclusion. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Guttmacher surveys of abortionists revealed the nation's abortion rate fell from its peak of 33 per 1,000 women in 1980 to a record low of 20 in 2004, the end of the study period.
