One of the most convenient innovations of modern cleaning has been the vacuum bag. This innovation has been credited to a fellow named Ives McGaffney who assigned by the Chicago Carpet Cleaning company to research and produce a prototype of a dirt cleaner for domestic and commercial use. The protptype that McGaffney produced ended up paving the way for the modern suction vacuum cleaner that we have come to familiarize ourselves with so well. Later on in 1900s another inventor by the name of Melville modified the earlier version of the vacuum cleaner and produced a better model which he presented to his wife as a present. Upon his death, this same wife went ahead to commercialize the cleaner and became an influential businesswoman of her time.
